Belmar Surf Breaks & Surf Guide
Avoid this place at all costs. In the summer it is worse than “Queens” in Waikiki. The people who are self proclaimed pro surfers, surf here to show off and act like they own the break. 16th Ave has two fun sandbars that break right in front of Eastern Lines surf shop. The wave that breaks off the left jetty is great at mid to high tide. The opposing jetty, also know loosely as the Pit, breaks best on low incoming and is a long roping right hander. Either one can provide a peeling wave with just about everything you want out of a wave. Even when most spots aren’t breaking, 16th tends to be surfable.
A word to the wise: if a “Bel-martian” gets in your face hold your ground. They are all foam and no beer.
